Getting to Know Rob Blackman: "I knew being a pro athlete wasn't possible so sports broadcasting is it."
Rob loves sports. He played football, basketball, baseball and ran track all four years while a student at North White High School.
He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Evansville, where he earned his degree in telecommunications and was a four-year letter winner as a wide receiver on the football team.
Why did Rob chose announcing as a profession? "I wasn't good enough to be a professional athlete and I sure as heck didn't want the coaching lifestyle...so sports broadcasting is it!"
Rob Blackman is a familiar voice to listeners throughout Indiana...especially if you're a boilermaker fan.
Rob is in his ninth season as pregame/halftime/postgame anchor as well as producer following three seasons as sideline reporter and three seasons as co-host of “Boilermaker Sports Wrap.”
During the men’s basketball season, Blackman serves as pregame/halftime/postgame anchor for home games and color commentator for road contests on the Boilermaker Sports Network.
In the spring, he does radio play-by-play for Purdue baseball. Blackman also has done baseball, soccer and softball play-by-play for the BTN.
Once a fill in, he's now one of the branded voices and faces you'll see on the IHSAA Champions Network.
Blackman will be seen covering the football, basketball, softball and baseball regular season, tournament and state finals.
Rob and his wife, Stephanie, reside in Zionsville and have two children, Evan and Lily.
